Motivation

I signed up for a motivation course yesterday, but I am not in the mood to go. You may ask why physical preparation is not the first step. Or vitamins? Or breathing technique for the runners? Because MOTIVATION is the most si-gni-fi-cant. Your body has no motivation, it gets lazy, and then it starts rotting. And what is the motivation? For our ancestors, it was: famine, the instinct of self-preservation, or the desire to continue the family lineage (or activities related to that). It is always good to learn from our ancestors, but what matters is what drives our motivation now and here. Is it a desire to overcome oneself? Bets with friends? The way to attract the opposite sex? Or – JUST HAVE FUN? Set your priorities, find/name motivation, and set your mind to a great experience and outstanding race, which Hero Race surely is.

Mindset

Whatever your motivation is, the mindset is important. Set your goals. It’s important to do what makes you happy, what you find meaningful, and what pushes you forward. It must have a focus and benefits for you. If you want benefits, you must contribute. Lose extra weight? Get fit? Push your limits? Or JUST HAVE FUN? It doesn’t matter, but the goal must be clear like when the lightning bolts are hitting the High Tatras.

Avoid lightning

Out of the blue. And avoid injuries. A wounded hero won’t save the world. If you decided to overcome your limits, follow the right training methodology, diet, and regeneration. If you don’t want to break bones, you must be acknowledged. Don’t be scared to ask for advice from the more experienced ones. Exercise, and train, but also read and gather information on how to do it better and more effectively. Nobody is born wise. Even when you fall, you get up and carry on. Because it doesn’t matter how many times you fall, but how many times you get up. Success requires continuity, systematicity, and discipline.

What makes champions different from losers is discipline. Not the genes, not the wealthy parents, not the pretty blue eyes. This all is worthless if there is no discipline. So do not stop pushing the pedal to the metal. Have discipline, be systematic, and be determined to get ready for the race, and hit the finish line.

Just have fun

This is very important advice that could go along with you during the process of preparation and the race itself. I know it can be unimaginable to enjoy muscle burning after a good round of TABATA, oxygen deficiency after running up a hill, or foot blisters because you urgently need a new pair of running shoes. No need to take the time before the race, the race itself, and the time after the race as well too seriously. Life and Hero Race are all about fun.

What you have to take into consideration is the movement that your foot makes touching the subsoil. Expect sand, water, mud, grass, and other surfaces at Hero Race. Adjusting your shoes in all these aspects will not only give you comfort, but it will prevent injuries. Do not underestimate this part of the preparation, because that can make it more difficult for you. Comfortable and functional sports clothes should be as essential for amateurs and for active competitors too.

Following the right training, you won’t only get fit and strong, but it will improve your dexterity and the ability to survive and JUST HAVE FUN at the same time. Increase the intensity and training level gradually, and make sure you get enough rest in between the training sessions. Remember to stretch and warm up your body before and after the race. If you don’t know how, no worries. We can help you right before the start during the warm-up in front of the start line.

The ability to recover depends on the individual level of performance, gender, age, health condition, climate conditions, nutrition, and many more factors. Time is the best healer, when you are fresh, you are fun too. Training can cause damage to the muscles’ microstructure. The damage can be restored by the right regeneration. Regeneration is all about having sufficient rest between training sessions, enough sleep, or using procedures to speed up and deepen the regeneration (like massage, sauna, cryotherapy, stretching, physiotherapy, etc.). The right regeneration can help us avoid overtraining and improve efficiency. To improve our performance, we need to regenerate enough and correctly. Just like nutrition. You will have enough time to rest in the recreational area after Hero Race. You can look forward to our team of physiotherapists and masseuses.

Do not neglect your nutrition, study it for its optimal setup, read, want to learn more, and in case you are clueless, ask a nutritionist for help. Because thanks to nutrition we are well and alive.
